Dominican Republic poised to reclaim its most pristine beach
Santo Domingo.- Prosecutors on Thursday motioned Dominican Republic’s Land Court to annul all real estate transfers, transactions, boundaries, subdivisions and any operation obtained through forged documents or other illegal action involving Bahia de las Aguilas (southwest) since 1990.
The request to National District Land Court 8th Chamber judge Alba Beard Marcos came during a hearing in the case of the area that forms part of Jaragua National Park, Pedernales, where the State seeks the immediate eviction of any person or entity within Parcel 215-A, No.3, in Enriquillo, within the Barahona province Cadastral District.
The prosecutors also requested the cancelation of each and every survey conducted in the area that encompasses the lands between the towns of Oviedo and Pedernales.
Prosecutors Fermin Casilla, Laura Acosta Lora, Gustavo Biaggi, Manuel Cáceres, Blas Minaya, Samuel Ramia, Sofani Nicolás David, Germán Ramírez and Angel Contreras represent the Dominican State, in the country’s biggest ever land fraud case, with one of the world’s most pristine beaches at stake.
