Sex workers want voice in decision-making, public policies
Santo Domingo.- Elegantly dressed, enthused and above all empowered, sex workers on Tuesday participated in the "Public Policy Forum on Violence and Health in Sexual Work."
The forum hosted by the United Women’s Movement (Modemu), has the support of the Latin America and Caribbean Sex Workers Network (REDTRASEX).
Modemu brings together 7,200 female sex workers and focuses on preventing sexually transmitted diseases, defense of their rights and empowerment of its affiliates.
Modemu president and councilor Belkis Martinez said the entity aims to integrate sex workers into decision-making, encourage them to from part of neighborhood boards and politic organizations.
