AMET to distribute first aid kits to drivers in Easter break

Santo Domingo.– Thanks to contributions from several countries and private institutions, over 8,000 first aid kits will be distributed to drivers during Easter break so that they may be equipped to administer first aid in case of an accident, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) announced.

The initiative is part of the AMET campaign "More Prudence and Fewer Accidents," which is aimed directly at more than 500,000 people who are expected to take to the roads this week.

AMET personnel will be giving advice to drivers as they head to beaches, rivers and swimming pools this festive season. Motorcycle drivers will also be given special warnings about using their helmets.

This year the safety operation includes 20 mobile units, seven ambulances, three helicopters for air ambulances, more than 140 highway patrol units and nearly 2,500 members of the Public Works Ministry posted at critical points and tourist areas.
