‘Green flame’ ignites push to end impunity, Gov. corruption

Santo Domingo.- The Green March movement, which groups together various civil society organizations, on Monday continued their pilgrimage to various areas of Santiago, Barahona and La Romana provinces with the “green flame” as a demand an end impunity and government corruption.

The protesters set off at 6pm in downtown Santiago, and walked through several sectors to end it with a rally.

Simultaneously, the “green flame” was walked through Valverde (northwest); Barahona, (south) and Higüey, San Pedro and La Romana, in the east, wheras La Vega, Espaillat, Monseñor Nouel and Sánchez Ramírez provinces are expected to host marches today.

The torch will end its tour at Parque Independencia in the National District on Sunday, when organizers will repeat  their demand to appoint a special prosecutor with the UN’s support, to investigate Odebrecht’s admitted  bribe of US$92.0 million to Dominican government officials.
