New York.- Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) of the Homeland Security Dept. has arrested 31 immigrants wanted for alleged crimes in various New York counties, including five Dominicans, who face eventual deportation.

ICE’s Execution and Repatriation Office (ERO) said the sweeps carried out by US immigration authorities during three days focus on apprehending immigrants accused of, or who’ve served time for felonies.

Most of the detainees detained during the operations have a criminal record, including prior convictions for sex offenses, drugs and fraud.

ICE arrested the largest number of immigrants including the five Dominicans, during the operations in Queens and Suffolk counties, while ERO agents conducted raids in 10 communities.
