Dominican Republic regions on alert as downpours continue

Santo Domingo.- The National Weather Office (Onamet) on Monday forecast continuing rains throughout the country, while the Emergency Operations Center (COE) said most provinces are under flash flooding and mudslide alerts.

The COE said 330 people were evacuated as a result of the floods, 68 homes damaged, and eight aqueducts are out of service to prevent contamination.

It  said Sánchez Ramírez, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, Monseñor Noel, La Vega, Duarte and María Trinidad Sánchez provinces are under heightened alert for flooding.
