Medina hurls Haitian hot-potato at Defense chief

Santo Domingo.- “The Minister of Defense is going to speak today” was president Danilo Medina’s curt response to reporters who asked about the “unchecked” immigration of Haitians reportedly in the thousands over the last few weeks.
The Head of State’s affirmation throws the hot topic into the hands of Defense minister Rubén Darío Paulino, who on Sunday downplayed reports of “massive” presence of undocumented Haitians in several provinces.
Medina spoke during ribbon-cutting for European Union headquarters in the upscale Gazcue district.
