Bone fragments in sausages, hot dogs prompt recall

Santo Domingo.- National Consumer Protection (ProConsumidor) agency director Anina Del Castillo, on Wednesday warned that certain batches of Sabrett brand beef and pork sausages and hot dogs, sold in various packages by the company Marathon Enterprises contain bone fragments.

It said the company issued an international recall of the lots produced from March 17 to July 4, 2017, and some of those products may have been imported by Bravo supermarkets in the Dominican Republic, according to a bulletin from US Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Castillo said agency inspectors confirmed by the information after finding the sausages that were then pulled from the shelves, “to ensure the health and safety of consumers.”
