Maria bashes Dominican Republic’s north coast

Santo Domingo.-  Dominican Republic’s  Emergency Operations Center (COE) Thursday morning reported that most of the country is under flash flooding and landslide warnings as Hurricane Maria menaces the north coast.

The COE reports that 9,990 people have been evacuated of which 3,713 were taken to the 70 shelters currently in operation.

In a press conference, COE director Juan Manuel Mendez said that the mandatory evacuations continue in the provinces under severe weather warnings, especially the north coast, expected to take the brunt of the hurricane.
