Taiwan donates US$100,000 to ease hurricane woes

Santo Domingo.- The government of Taiwan on Friday donated US$100,000 to the Emergency Operations Center (COE) to assist communities affected by hurricanes Maria and Irma.
Taiwan envoy Valentino Tang handed donation to COE director Juan Manuel Méndez, at the headquarters of the first response agency.
“This is a show of solidarity from the government and the people of Taiwan towards the brotherly Dominican people, in this difficult moment some areas are going through recently affected by the hurricanes,” the Taiwan ambassador said.
Tang added that he knows the difficulties that cross the zones impacted by Irma and Maria, because he has personally visited the towns of Nagua, Salcedo and Samaná, where the floods wreaked havoc.
