Environment chief plants trees as trash chokes the city

Trash and more trash
Santo Domingo.- Environment minister Francisco Dominguez on Wednesday kicked off Reforestation Month by planting mangroves at an ecological park in southern San Cristóbal province.
At the activity, dozens of children from special care centers of San Cristóbal planted mangroves together with official.
He and other officials also visited a popular beach which he pledged to restore for the locals to enjoy.
Trash
Dominguez declined however to comment on the crisis still hampering the landfill at Duquesa, which has led to dangerous levels of trash piling up throughout Santo Domingo.
