Spain’s Queen to visit Dominican Republic aid projects next week

Santo Domingo.- Queen Letizia of Spain will hold meetings next week with the presidents of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, and of Haiti, Jovenel Moise, during a visit to Spanish cooperation projects in the countries that share Hispaniola.

She will arrive in Santo Domingo next Sunday and will conclude her tour in Haiti next Wednesday.

The monarch’s busy agenda includes keeping abreast of the various humanitarian aid programs, especially in education and women, said Spanish Foreign Ministry sources quoted by EFE.

She’ll kick off her tour in Monte Plata (east) Dominican Republic, where she’ll visit a water distribution project and afterwards a comprehensive disability care center (CAID) with Medina’s wife, Cándida.

Letizia will also visit a facility which assists pregnant teens in Baní (south) and a banana production cooperative in Azua (west).

Her  stay in Santo Domingo will conclude with a lunch hosted by Medina and his wife in the National Palace on Monday.
