The Ministry of Defense of the Dominican Republic (MIDE) informed this Saturday which streets and avenues will be closed for the military and police parade to be held next February 27, as part of the activities commemorating the 179th anniversary of National Independence.

Through a press release, the MIDE announced that starting at 11:00 a.m., the section of George Washington Avenue, between Fabio Fiallo Street to Máximo Gómez Avenue and others, will be closed, and separating fences will be placed.

The route will cover George Washington Avenue, from Héroes de Luperón Street to the Floating Bridge; Máximo Gómez Avenue, from the intersection with George Washington Avenue to Independencia Avenue; Alma Máter Avenue, from the intersection with George Washington Avenue to Correa y Cidrón Avenue.

It will also cover Engineer Huáscar Tejeda Street, from the intersection with George Washington Avenue to General Modesto Díaz Street; Abraham Lincoln Avenue, with George Washington Avenue, to Correa y Cidrón Avenue.

For this action, the institution will work together with members of the General Directorate of Traffic and Transportation Safety (Digesett), who will be restricting vehicular traffic until the end of the parade.

“The citizens are informed that in all the closed sections there will be some controls by Digesett agents from Independencia Avenue, with blocking of all the indicated intersections that give access to George Washington Avenue, from Juan Bautista Perez Street to the Floating Bridge over the Ozama River, along the entire route of the parade,” said the MIDE.
