Abinader believes the situation of the Chamber of Accounts is worrisome
The President, Luis Abinader, expressed concern about the situation within the Chamber of Accounts, where the head of the organization referred to himself as a “trusted prisoner.” Despite the independence of the institution, the Senate has some ideas on how to handle the matter.
In contrast to his previous reticence on the topic, the president briefly addressed the issue during a radio interview. The Chamber of Accounts has been facing internal conflicts among its members, hindering the completion of audits and the appointment of new technical staff. The President acknowledged these issues and stated that he will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts during his trip to London for the coronation of King Charles III.
He accepted the invitation because of the significant relationship between Britain and the Dominican Republic, as Great Britain is a major source of tourists and an importer of bananas produced in Montecristi and Valverde. Accompanied by his wife, Raquel Arbaje, the President departs for London this afternoon.
