Kanqui clown’s 12-year sentence for rape and sexual abuse of a minor upheld by Supreme Court of Justice

Santiago.- Kelvin Francisco Núñez Morel, also known as the Kanqui clown, has had his 12-year prison sentence for rape and sexual abuse of a minor confirmed by the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice. In addition to the prison sentence, the clown has been fined 200,000 pesos and ordered to pay 2 million pesos in compensation. The Second Chamber rejected an appeal filed by Núñez’s legal representative seeking to vary the sentence of the court of first instance.

Félix Portes, the lawyer for the victims, expressed on his Twitter account that he and his clients were victims of harassment through social networks by the relatives and friends of Núñez, who had claimed that he was innocent and that the victims acted out of revenge.

Núñez was initially accused of raping three minors, but he was convicted of only one case. The victim is currently 27 years old.
