Aerodom airports serve over 6 million passengers: 10% increase
Santo Domingo.- In 2023, Dominican Airports Siglo XXI (Aerodom), a subsidiary of Vinci Airpórts, experienced a notable increase in passenger traffic, with a total of 6.58 million passengers transported. This marks a 10% rise compared to 2022 and a 17% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
In Santo Domingo, Aerodom and VINCI Airports attribute this growth to the significant contribution of the new Dominican airline, Arajet, which saw its traffic surge by 2.3 times. Additionally, major carriers like Delta and United also experienced substantial increases, with growth rates of 39% and 57%, respectively.
It’s worth noting that Aerodom oversees the operation of six of the country’s principal airports under a concession agreement with the State.
Vinci Airports, the world’s largest airport operator, reported a total global passenger movement of 267 million in 2023. This represents a 26% increase from 2022, although it remains 4.3% below the figures recorded in 2019.
