Persistent heavy rain forecast in several provinces
The National Meteorological Office has reported an escalation in instability and humidity since early today, leading to increased cloud cover and local moderate to strong rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusts of wind.
These weather conditions are expected to affect several provinces, including La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, El Gran Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Peravia, Azua, Barahona, Pedernales, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, and Santiago, with the possibility of spreading to nearby areas later.
By afternoon, rainfall towards the southeast is anticipated to become less frequent, giving way to scattered clouds and sunshine. However, in the northwest, north, and Central Cordillera regions, including provinces such as Barahona, Independencia, San Juan de la Maguana, La Vega, Santiago, Dajabón, Monte Cristi, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, and Hermanas Mirabal, an increase in cloud cover with moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds is expected, likely persisting into the night.
