Tropical cyclone threatens Caribbean

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) is closely monitoring a potential tropical cyclone, the fifth of the season, currently located about 1,040 kilometers east-southeast of Antigua.

This weather system has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and is moving westward at a speed of 41 kilometers per hour. Due to the system’s rapid movement, Indomet is maintaining continuous surveillance.

For Monday, the weather forecast includes showers and thunderstorms along the Atlantic coast and the Caribbean Sea, impacting provinces such as Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Azua, Barahona, and Pedernales. The border region is expected to experience more intense showers and thunderstorms.
