Santo Domingo and Jamaica Chambers of Commerce sign Memorandum of Understanding

Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce and the Jamaican Chamber of Manufacturers and Exporters have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The MoU was signed by Lucile Houellemont, President of the Santo Domingo Chamber of Commerce, and Syd Thwaites, President of the Jamaican Chamber of Manufacturers and Exporters. The agreement commits both organizations to implement measures that will foster trade exchanges and economic collaboration while adhering to relevant laws.

Thwaites expressed appreciation for the warm reception and praised the MoU as a positive development. He noted that it will help Jamaican companies enter the Dominican market and find local suppliers, fostering stronger regional ties. Thwaites also acknowledged the contributions of Ambassador Martínez and Houellemont in facilitating this agreement.

Overall, this agreement marks a crucial step in strengthening trade relations between Jamaica and the Dominican Republic and reflects a shared commitment to sustainable economic development and member opportunities.

Abinader is not perfect, but I like his strategy of getting closer with the big economies of the CARICOM, instead of trying to enter the organization we’re improving business with its biggest economies.
