National Police participate in strategic meetings in Washington
Washington.- A delegation of senior officers from the Dominican National Police visited Washington from November 13 to 15, 2024, to advance the institution’s modernization and enhance international cooperation. The delegation, led by General Esteban Figuereo García, Colonel Juan Antonio Bello Balaguer, and Colonel Roberto Albino Filpo, engaged in key meetings with international organizations to discuss security issues and strengthen global partnerships.
The commission’s activities included a strategic preparatory meeting at the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic, discussions on hemispheric security with General Marco Antonio Álvarez Reyes, President of the Inter-American Defense Board, and a thematic hearing at the IACHR-OAS to reaffirm their commitment to human rights. Additionally, they met with Iván Marqués, Secretary of Multidimensional Security, and officials from REDPOL and the OAS Public Security Department to promote public security initiatives.
The delegation also visited Major General Richard Heitkamp, Director of the Inter-American Defense College, to explore academic and training opportunities. These efforts reflect the National Police’s commitment to adopting best practices and strengthening international ties to improve citizen security.
