President Abinader receives the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh

Santo Domingo.- On Wednesday, President Luis Abinader hosted an official visit from the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, at the National Palace in Santo Domingo. The visit, aimed at enhancing bilateral ties and engaging with the business sector, began with a ceremonial reception on the palace’s front esplanade at 10:36 a.m. Prime Minister Minh Chinh, accompanied by Vietnam’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, was welcomed by Dominican officials, including State Ceremonies Director Francisco José Cantizano Nadal. The Prime Minister was escorted through a formal honor guard to meet President Abinader and First Lady Raquel Arbaje.

Following the reception, the two leaders held a private meeting in the Presidential Office. The visit’s agenda included an extended session involving high-ranking officials from both nations. The Dominican delegation featured key figures such as the Ministers of the Presidency, Industry and Commerce, Agriculture, Housing, Energy, and Regional Integration, alongside ProDominicana’s Executive Director. The Vietnamese delegation included the Prime Minister’s wife, Le Thi Bich Tran, and ministers overseeing investment, construction, and labor.

The visit culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries, marking a significant step in bilateral cooperation. The signing ceremony took place in the Ambassadors’ Hall, followed by a formal lunch hosted by President Abinader in the National Palace’s Banquet Hall. The event emphasized both nations’ commitment to deepening their diplomatic and economic partnerships.
