Three injured in Santiago building collapse after ignoring MIVED stop order

Arias revealed that the Ministry of Labor had previously issued a cessation order for the construction project, which was disregarded by the establishment’s owners. A sign from the Ministry of Housing and Construction clearly marked the site as halted, yet work reportedly continued in violation of this mandate. Arias expressed concern over the negligence, emphasizing the importance of adhering to official regulations to prevent similar incidents.

Emergency services, including members of the National Emergency and Security System 9-1-1, the Santiago Fire Department, and the National Police, promptly responded. Civil Defense authorities concluded inspections after confirming no additional injuries or entrapments. Arias urged stricter compliance with construction regulations, noting that ignoring stop orders poses significant risks to public safety.
