AERODOM introduces sustainable firefighting vehicles
Santo Domingo.- AERODOM has introduced four state-of-the-art SIDES SENTINEL 6×6 firefighting vehicles, equipped with synthetic fluorine-free foam (SFFF) technology. These vehicles meet international safety standards and are capable of operating on both paved and unpaved terrain, ensuring effective response capabilities day and night.
Three units have been deployed to Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo, and one to Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) in Puerto Plata. The SFFF foam used in these vehicles eliminates the use of perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), reducing potential water and soil contamination while enhancing environmental sustainability.
This upgrade bolsters the emergency response capacity at AERODOM’s six managed airports across the Dominican Republic. AERODOM, under the management of VINCI Airports since 2016, continues to prioritize safety and environmental innovation within its operations across 14 countries.

Because of agreements with international regulators to adhere maintaining international airports at safety levels consistent with their regulations this type a class of firefighting equipment is necessary.
Note: The word sustainable is being overused, worn-out by the Dominican news media. Many items are sustainable, if they are maintained. However, quality maintenance in the RD leaves much to be desired. The firefighting vehicles are sustainable if they are maintained.
If the word sustainable is used in a news publication it should have an *asterisk, annotated “if maintained”.
