Abinader appoints new Dominican Republic Ambassadors

Santo Domingo.- On November 20, President Luis Abinader issued Decree 658-24, introducing significant changes to the Dominican Republic’s diplomatic corps. The decree includes the appointment of new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors to strengthen international relations and enhance the country’s representation abroad.
Among the key appointments are:
- Joan Margarita Cedano García de Madera as ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium.
- Jorge Gerardo Neftalí Marte Báez as ambassador to Argentina.
- Víctor Valdemar Suárez Díaz as ambassador to the Holy See.
The decree also revokes several previous appointments, including Joan Margarita Cedano’s role as alternate representative to the UN and Gustavo Enrique Hernando Castillo’s position as ambassador to Argentina. It further nullifies Luis Emilio Montalvo Arzeno’s appointments as ambassador to the Holy See and Malta, and Jorge Marte Báez’s designation as medical advisor to the Executive Branch.
These changes underline the government’s commitment to reinforcing its diplomatic network and advancing national interests in key global regions. Relevant institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are directed to implement the new mandates promptly.
