Four foreign nationals to face charges following attack on migration officer

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Migration has announced legal action against four foreign nationals with irregular immigration status after they assaulted an officer during an interdiction operation in the Piantini sector of the National District. The incident escalated when the officer, accompanied by a Navy official, pursued one of the individuals to a construction site where the suspects overwhelmed them. The migrants reportedly disarmed the Navy officer, shot him in the thigh, and inflicted multiple physical injuries.
The wounded officer is currently receiving treatment at the central hospital of the Armed Forces and is reported to be in stable condition. The detained individuals are in police custody and will be presented before the judicial authorities on Wednesday.
This event is part of a troubling trend; since October, 13 immigration officers have been attacked by both foreign nationals and locals attempting to obstruct the work of the Migration Service. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of their personnel while enforcing immigration regulations.
Teams need to be sent out on these operations, and not just two persons to walk into danger. It increases their safety and minimizes the chances of abuse.

I thought they were deporting 40 thousand Haitians a week. This government is a joke.
