Meteorology forecasts rains in the northeast due to a low pressure system; Warning about waves
National Territory – According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), a low-pressure system in the northeast of the Dominican Republic will generate rain in several locations this Saturday.
The entity pointed out that the rainfall could extend to nearby areas as the phenomenon moves westwards, near the country’s northern coast. He expects these areas to continue registering scattered downpours during the night and early Sunday morning.
He indicated that rains could occur in Montecristi, Dajabón, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, María Trinidad Sánchez, Sánchez Ramírez, Duarte, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Samaná, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, Monte Plata, El Seibo and Altagracia.
According to forecasts, the low-pressure area is expected to weaken and evolve into a trough by Sunday, affecting the country’s weather conditions.
Warning about waves
Indomet warned that this system will also deteriorate the waves along the entire Atlantic coast. For this reason, operators of fragile and small vessels are advised to remain in port until maritime conditions return to normal.
Due to the rainfall forecast for the next 72 hours, the institute maintains meteorological alerts for possible river, stream, and ravine flooding, urban and rural flooding, and landslides.
Temperatures will remain pleasant for the next 48 hours.
By Monday, Indomet said that the trough will continue to weaken in the country and favor weather conditions.
