Worldcoin to resume operations in the Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- After a temporary suspension by Proconsumidor due to contract concerns, World announced it will resume proof-of-humanity verification services for adults in the Dominican Republic starting December 19. The initiative aims to empower individuals in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), addressing widespread concerns about distinguishing humans from bots online.
World guarantees privacy and user anonymity through advanced technology, requiring no personal data for verification. The process involves capturing encrypted images of the face and eyes, which are immediately deleted after verification. Users receive a verified World ID, a secure digital credential confirming their humanity without revealing personal details. This optional service also offers Worldcoin (WLD) tokens, enabling access to financial systems and digital opportunities.
World operates in compliance with Dominican data protection laws, prioritizing transparency and collaboration with regulators. The Orb, its verification device, has undergone independent security audits confirming data security. By ensuring privacy and ethical use of AI, World reaffirms its commitment to building trust and advancing technology responsibly.
