Venezuelan community in Dominican Republic rallies for opposition leader Edmundo González

Santo Domingo.- The Venezuelan community in the Dominican Republic is mobilizing to support opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia during his visit this week. Amid political tensions in Venezuela, expatriates are advocating for significant change and voicing their opposition to Nicolás Maduro’s impending presidential term.

On Thursday, González is scheduled to meet with Dominican President Luis Abinader and former Dominican leaders. Venezuelans in the country plan to gather at 4 p.m. outside the Venezuelan Embassy on Anacaona Avenue to demand that González be sworn in as Venezuela’s president on Friday, coinciding with Maduro’s scheduled inauguration.

This demonstration highlights the Venezuelan diaspora’s commitment to political transformation. By rallying for González, they aim to draw international attention to Venezuela’s political crisis and express their determination to secure a better future for their homeland.
