President Abinader unveils INFOTEP’s Unified Technical Training Network

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated the Unified Technical Training Network at the National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP), positioning the institution as a regional leader in technology within Central America and the Caribbean.

The newly launched platform features a state-of-the-art Data Center, a Unified Management and Monitoring Center, and a Network Operations and Closed-Circuit Television Center. This advanced infrastructure aims to elevate INFOTEP’s training services, embracing cutting-edge technology to meet modern demands.

During the event, President Abinader praised INFOTEP’s transformation, highlighting its significant role in advancing technical education. “I always refer to INFOTEP as one of this government’s success stories. From eight facilities in 2020, we’ve expanded to 54,” he stated.

Luis Miguel De Camps, Minister of Labor and President of INFOTEP’s Board of Directors, emphasized that the Unified Network equips students with essential tools for the evolving job market, blending experience and knowledge to enhance employability and competitiveness.

INFOTEP Director General Rafael Santos Badía explained that the network improves the monitoring of educational quality, strengthens the virtual platform, and enhances connectivity and cybersecurity across its main and regional offices. He noted that this initiative provides a clear view of academic performance, crucial for data-driven decision-making.

Highlighting the security enhancements, Santos Badía assured that the intelligent systems safeguard the institution’s connected infrastructure against external threats.

Edgar Batista, Vice Minister of Digital Agenda, underscored the importance of technology in driving national progress, addressing challenges in security, transportation, and education, and preparing for a digital future.

The ceremony also featured prominent figures, including the Ministers of Industry and Commerce, Education, and key business and media leaders.

INFOTEP’s introduction of high-tech simulators in Haina and Santana, valued at over 88 million pesos, further exemplifies its commitment to enhancing scientific knowledge in fields such as logistics, construction, and heavy machinery.

This technological advancement marks a pivotal shift in technical education in the Dominican Republic, aligning with global digital trends and reinforcing INFOTEP’s dedication to human capital development.
