Dominican Republic braces for cooler weather

Santo Domingo.- Meteorologist Jean Suriel has announced that the Dominican Republic will enter a more intense phase of its tropical winter, with colder frontal systems and polar air causing a significant drop in temperatures nationwide.

Suriel explained that while recent nights and early mornings have been cool due to northeasterly winds, a new polar air mass, accompanied by two cold fronts, is set to arrive. Frontal system 15, currently northeast of the Dominican Republic, will move toward the central Atlantic, while frontal system 16 advances from Florida toward the region. Between tonight and Saturday morning, the influence of polar air will make weather conditions especially cool, with the lowest temperatures expected in mountainous areas and the Cibao region.

Suriel noted that a high-pressure system has been controlling weather conditions, reducing rainfall across the country. This pattern is expected to persist until Friday, with little rain and occasional gusts of wind in various areas throughout the week.
