Santo Domingo.- Miguelina Crespo, Head of Publications at the Instituto Superior de Formación Docente Salomé Ureña (ISFODOSU), has received a significant donation of academic books and literary works from the Puerto Rican-based Luscinia Editorial Collective. The donation, aimed at preserving and promoting the historical and cultural knowledge of Puerto Rico, was formally handed over through the Directorate of the Santo Domingo International Book Fair.

The delivery took place at the Ministry of Culture, with Joan Ferrer, Director of the Book Fair, leading the activity. Ferrer expressed his gratitude for the gesture of goodwill from the literary group in donating this cultural heritage.

Ferrer thanked the authors for their gesture, which he said ennobles them, and assured them that in each of the present institutions, they have a friendly hand and a home that will always be ready to continue fostering cooperation in knowledge dissemination.

“We very gladly receive this donation, which for me and the beneficiaries, consists of very well-cared-for and finished editions, and will serve for the preservation of collective and historical memory and archives,” Ferrer stated.

On behalf of ISFODOSU, Crespo received the copies representing the Rector, Dr. Nurys del Carmen González. “On behalf of our Rector, I thank you for this donation, which will serve for the knowledge of our students and teachers in our six campuses, but also be available to the general public,” Crespo expressed.

She also invited the authors to visit ISFODOSU’s facilities and learn about the Publications area, the works they produce, and their library.

The authors José Orlando Sued, founding member and president of Luscinia C.E. since 2013, and Dr. Luis R. Burset Flores, made the deliveries to ISFODOSU, the Book Fair, the Pedro Henriquez Ureña National Library, the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), and the General Archive of the Nation.

“Seeing an initiative like this where these texts are welcomed fills me with joy, where I recognize that all the effort that has been made to finish these works has not been in vain,” Mr. Sued said.

Orlando expressed his desire, as a Puerto Rican author from Luscinia C.E., to begin producing literary works in collaboration with the Dominican Republic.

During the activity, six copies of the author’s works, also from Puerto Rico, Sebastian Robiu, were also distributed, delivered on behalf of Jose Orlando Sued and Joan Manuel Ferré.
