Mayor of Santo Domingo Este to inspect Francisco del Rosario Sánchez bridge

Santo Domingo.- Mayor Dio Astacio of Santo Domingo Este will conduct a technical inspection of the Francisco del Rosario Sánchez Bridge, commonly known as the “17th Street Bridge,” alongside the President of the Chapter House. The visit is scheduled for today at 3:00 p.m.

The inspection will be supported by the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects, and Surveyors (CODIA), the Santo Domingo Este Builders Association, the City Council’s Engineering Department, and the Urban Planning Directorate. Its purpose is to assess the structural integrity of the bridge and determine whether it is safe for continued use.

Mayor Astacio emphasized his commitment to public safety, promising a transparent and professional evaluation. The initiative follows growing concerns about the deteriorating condition of the bridge, which serves thousands of commuters daily.
