COE maintains weather alerts in 16 provinces

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has placed 11 provinces on yellow alert and 5 on green alert due to the risk of urban and rural flash flooding, river overflows, and landslides. The yellow alert applies to provinces including Samaná, La Vega, and Santiago, while the green alert covers areas like the National District and Santo Domingo.

Authorities have advised residents to avoid crossing rivers, streams, or ravines with high water levels and to refrain from using these bodies of water as recreational areas. The use of rivers and streams is strictly prohibited in all provinces currently under alert.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), Holy Thursday will bring cloudy skies and moderate to heavy showers with thunderstorms and gusty winds across several regions due to an active trough and easterly winds. Cooler temperatures are expected in mountainous areas and valleys, particularly at night and during early morning hours, with possible fog or mist.
