Dominican government implements support protocol for families affected by Jet Set tragedy

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican government has introduced a comprehensive social and family intervention protocol to assist families impacted by the Jet Set nightclub roof collapse that occurred on April 8.

Led by the social program Supérate and supported by various agencies—including the Ministry of Public Health, GANA, CONANI, and SIUBEN—the initiative focuses on addressing the psychological, economic, and legal needs of affected families, especially children. The initial assessment identified the need for psychological care, economic assistance, and personal support, along with legal representation and guardianship.

Special support has also been requested for vulnerable groups such as older adults, people with disabilities, and dependent family members. Public Health, in collaboration with the Dominican College of Psychologists, has deployed teams to provide mental health support, while CONANI is evaluating and referring complex cases of childhood trauma.

Supérate Director Gloria Reyes announced the activation of an Emergency Bonus—amounting to RD$30,000 for six months—for over 200 families. Priority will be given to households with orphaned minors, elderly dependents, or survivors suffering from injuries. The initiative follows direct instructions from President Luis Abinader.
