Netherlands Embassy celebrates King’s Day in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Dominican Republic hosted a vibrant celebration of King’s Day (Koningsdag), marking the birthday of King Willem-Alexander and honoring Dutch heritage. The event took place in Santo Domingo with a formal ceremony and cultural reception, drawing a distinguished audience from the diplomatic corps, government, private sector, and civil society.

Ambassador Frank Keurhorst opened the evening after the playing of the Dominican, Dutch, and European Union anthems. In his speech, he emphasized the strong and historic ties between the two countries, rooted in shared values such as sustainability and innovation.

The celebration featured a symbolic toast to the enduring relationship between the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic, alongside Dutch cultural elements like the traditional game sjoelbak.
