Dominican Republic reaffirms commitment to judicial reform at Ibero-American Summit
Santo Domingo.- At the opening of the 22nd Ibero-American Judicial Summit, President Luis Abinader reaffirmed the Dominican Republic’s dedication to building a more efficient, inclusive, and trustworthy justice system. He emphasized that a judiciary rooted in strong principles and citizen-centered service is vital to democratic strength.
President Abinader highlighted the ongoing reforms under his administration, including digitalization, remote hearings, institutional interoperability, and the creation of citizen support centers. These efforts aim to ensure equitable access to justice regardless of social status or location, reinforcing the judiciary as a transparent, independent, and essential public service.
Held under the theme “Justice up to date to guarantee people’s dignity,” the summit focuses on three pillars: efficiency to reduce delays, inclusivity to eliminate discrimination, and transparency to build public trust. Chief Justice Luis Henry Molina stressed the need for dignity, coherence, and openness in justice systems. For the first time, the summit features simultaneous panels and a “Justice Service of the Future” tech fair, showcasing digital innovation across the region’s judicial systems. Participants include representatives from 22 Ibero-American countries.
