82 foreigners from 30 countries sworn in as Dominican citizens

Santo Domingo.- In a ceremony held at the auditorium of the Madre y Maestra Catholic University, 82 foreign nationals from 30 countries officially became Dominican citizens. The event was led by Faride Raful, Minister of the Interior and Police, who called on the new citizens to uphold the Constitution, respect national laws, and contribute to the country’s development.
The newly naturalized citizens hail from diverse regions including Pakistan, South Africa, Vietnam, Russia, Croatia, Spain, Italy, France, Cuba, Peru, Colombia, and the United States. The countries with the most new Dominicans were Cuba, Peru, Spain, and Colombia (8 each), followed by Russia, Italy, Venezuela, and the U.S. (6 each), and Pakistan (4).
Minister Raful emphasized the country’s safety, calling the Dominican Republic the “safest country in the Caribbean,” with aspirations to lead all of Latin America. Spanish citizen Miguel Palmero spoke on behalf of the group, expressing gratitude and describing the country as “wonderful.” The event also featured cultural performances and was attended by officials from the naturalization and immigration departments.
If you truly want to make Dominican Republic one of the “safest” countries in the region then I suggest learning a thing or two from Bukele. DR gov’t needs to stop being soft and start treating crime like a disease that needs to be eradicated. Until then, not much will likely change.
That and also reintroduce the death penalty for serious crimes.
Safety… Well, as someone who lived in London, Paris, Boston, Liege (Belgium) and Montreal (I just love traveling, I hate settling).. I could say I did not felt that unsafe in the DR, Not like in the US where I was hearing gunshot every week, and in London with the knife crime epidemic (my neighbour was sent to jail for attempted murder, my cousin’s frien got shot dead in his car
They need to be careful with the extremisim the Pakistani’s take everywhere they go with Islam. I’d rather take in the least amount of muslims as possible. You do not want to turn into Europe or Canada.
Muslims are not moving to Dominican Republic in large numbers. If anything, the country right next door to us represents a far bigger threat than any Muslim nation.
