Government hands over 90 property titles to families in Bayaguana

This housing project was developed in 2004 as a result of an agreement between the former National Housing Institute (INVI), the Humanism and Democracy Foundation (FHD), and the National Foundation for the Development of Rural Youth (Fundejur).

Monte Plata — The Minister of Housing and Construction (Mived), Carlos Bonilla, handed over 90 property titles to the same number of families from the FUNDEJUR-INVI project in Bayaguana, Monte Plata province.

With this handover, MIVED has handed over more than 300 property titles in different areas, providing legal security to homeowners.

In this way, Mived ends more than 20 years of waiting for the document that accredits owners as owners of their properties.

“We are here to continue delivering on the promise made by our president, Luis Abinader, by making a historic commitment to accompany families in the process of acquiring their property titles, dedicating time and resources to provide a legal and social response to these cases. Today we see a sign of the hard work and intention we have to dignify 90 families in this municipality, who today receive the title to their homes,” said Bonilla.

The Mived provided free legal advice and covered legal expenses for the beneficiaries in a rigorous process that consisted of censuses to validate the current beneficiaries. Subsequently, the final contracts were signed, allowing the transfer of the property titles to each beneficiary, who was officially registered in the Real Estate Registry.

This housing project was developed in 2004 as a result of an agreement between the former National Housing Institute (INVI), the Humanism and Democracy Foundation (FHD), and the National Foundation for the Development of Rural Youth (Fundejur). Its purpose was to benefit low-income families by providing quality housing at an affordable cost.

In 2022, a social survey identified 99 original purchasers. Most owners still own their homes, although some have been sold, while other units are being investigated to confirm their current status.
Since 2023, Mived has delivered 305 property titles to the same number of families. Invivienda has received 100; Manoguayabo has 30; Cancino and Juan Pablo Duarte has 85; and Bayaguana has 90.
