Dominican lawmakers denounce Vatican News report on Haitian migrants

Santo Domingo.- Lawmakers from multiple political parties in the Dominican Republic have strongly rejected an article published by Vatican News, the official media outlet of the Holy See, which accuses the country of committing “barbaric acts” against Haitian migrants.

The legislators called on the Dominican Foreign Ministry to request a formal explanation from both the Vatican and the Dominican Episcopal Conference. They expressed concern over the article’s serious allegations, which they believe misrepresent the country’s immigration policies and practices.

The Vatican News article claims that Dominican authorities have intensified immigration controls, allegedly forcing pregnant Haitian women to give birth at home, and accuses officials of torturing detainees, denying them food and water, and allowing deaths to occur in detention centers.

The Vatican is more than welcome to take them all in. Plenty of room behind that MASSIVE wall they live behind. We are not responsible for babysitting a failed state.

I doubt very much that the govt is as pure as they make themselves out to be. On the other hand their probably not as nasty as portraid.
But there must be something that is going on that started this report,
So govt needs to have a look.

That’s correct they all should go to Vatican City, they are very wealthy they love them so much and will take good care of them. They have some gut to accuse the Country of mistreating them.

The deportation round ups of Dominicans who can’t afford to get documents is well known. Grabbing working young men off the streets is frequent even if they commit no crime.

Just like the illegal aliens in the US, the crime is Illegal Entry and working without a proper authorization/id document. So…there is a crime.

Good for the Dominican Government!! The Vatican is NOT a government and is certainly NOT superior to the DR Government in any way. If they want these Haitian illegal aliens let them take them in. The Dominican Government has an absolute responsibility to protect the sovereignty of the nation and I am personally and professionally proud to see them doing that.

The lawmakers quickly went on the defensive because of the Vatican threat. The lawmakers should take some time to look inward to determine if the Vatican does have or does not have reason for its accusation. They should provide the Vatican with sincere feedback to its accusations.

I am wondering, what the Vatican, thought about the barbarian act their church have had committed aging the boys and girls thought out the church history. The abuse of faith against many millions of people. What about the barbarian act committed aging the natives girls in the USA, and still missing children’s from the native Americans communities. Lastly, yes you are welcome to share your wealth with the Haitians. Go ahead help them, you have plenty to share. Send your cardinals, the Pope, I am sure they can make all better for the Haitians. Hypocrites!! How, you have the Bs, to called anyone barbarians, you all aren’t holly.
