Onesvie to submit report on Jet Set collapse this week

Santo Domingo.- Leonardo Reyes Madera, director of the National Office for Seismic Assessment and Vulnerability of Infrastructure and Buildings (Onesvie), announced that the initial report regarding the collapse of the Jet Set nightclub roof—an incident that resulted in 236 fatalities—is now complete as scheduled. The report is set to be submitted to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) before Thursday to advance the investigation.

Reyes Madera clarified that recent circulating reports speculating on potential causes of the collapse are unrelated to the ongoing investigations by Onesvie and the PGR.

The tragic event occurred on April 8, when the nightclub’s roof collapsed during a party attended by merengue singer Rubby Pérez. The disaster marked the deadliest incident in the Dominican Republic’s history.

The investigation into the incident’s causes and accountability continues, with authorities emphasizing the importance of enhancing safety standards in public venues.
