Virgilio Feliz denies Haitian business involvement in Dominican ID card bidding

Santo Domingo.- Communicator Virgilio Feliz dismissed social media rumors claiming Haitian businessmen were involved in the Dominican Republic’s new identity card bidding process. Speaking on the program El Sol de la Mañana, he called these reports “irresponsible misinformation” spread by groups aiming to undermine the process and urged the public to ignore such baseless claims.
Feliz clarified that the bidding involved companies partnered with reputable international security and identity firms from Germany, France, the United States, and Italy. He firmly stated that none of the successful bidders or participants have any links to Haitian capital or businesspeople.
Criticizing the spreaders of these falsehoods, Feliz condemned the disinformation campaign as a tactic by uninformed individuals spreading nonsense without proper research. This clarification comes as the Dominican government advances efforts to modernize identity documents and licenses to improve the national identification system’s security and efficiency.
