Correo-Aduana 2025 boosts regional integration in Punta Cana

Punta Cana.- The 2025 Mail-Customs Strategic Meeting, organized by the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) alongside the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain, and Portugal (UPAEP), concluded on June 12 with strong international participation and a dynamic exchange of experiences. Held over two days, the event gathered postal and customs authorities from Latin America and the Caribbean, along with global experts and multilateral organizations, to advance cooperation, digital transformation, and secure, inclusive trade.
Key topics included the role of Advance Electronic Interchange (AEI) in regulatory compliance and trade traceability, risk management in international mail, and updates from the UPU Customs Program. The event also spotlighted opportunities within the logistics sector for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and reviewed regional best practices for AEI implementation, identifying areas for improvement.
A highlight of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between HONDUCOR (Honduras) and INPOSDOM to enhance e-commerce, postal security, and digitalization. The agreement emphasizes cooperation on customs declarations, operational tools, and bilateral technical assistance. The United States Postal Service (USPS) was honored for its contribution to postal security and technical support in the region.
