Three Haitians arrested in Dominican Republic for plot to use suicide drones in Haiti

Santo Domingo.- Three Haitian nationals were arrested in the Dominican Republic by members of the Ministry of Defense’s J-2 and the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (CESFRONT), after being identified as members of a gang planning to acquire suicide drones for attacks in Haiti. The arrests were the result of a coordinated intelligence operation between Dominican and Haitian authorities, following reports of the suspects’ intent to use unmanned aerial vehicles for violent purposes, according to N Digital.
While the Dominican Ministry of Defense confirmed the attempted purchase of the drones, it stated that it had no information regarding their range or capabilities. However, Haitian National Police Director General Rameau Normil revealed that the drones were intended for use by the “Viv Ansanm” gang to carry out attacks in Haiti. The arrested individuals were transferred to Haitian custody, where they remain detained.
General Normil emphasized that the Haitian police are committed to tracking down and neutralizing all individuals involved in terrorism, regardless of their social status or supporters. He noted that the suspects had contacted a Dominican merchant to acquire drone equipment and urged the public to support ongoing police efforts to dismantle criminal networks that threaten the safety and stability of the Haitian people.
