Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz to perform in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Sinfonía Foundation proudly announces the arrival of the prestigious NYO Jazz Orchestra from New York’s Carnegie Hall for two standout performances in the Dominican Republic. The concerts will take place on Tuesday, August 5 at 8:30 p.m. at the Eduardo Brito National Theater in Santo Domingo, and on Wednesday, August 6 at 8:00 p.m. at the León Center in Santiago.

NYO Jazz, composed of top young musicians from across the U.S., was formed through a highly competitive national audition process. Directed by acclaimed trumpeter Sean Jones and featuring special guest Luciana Souza, a Grammy-winning Brazilian vocalist, the orchestra will present a dynamic program that honors the tradition and evolution of jazz. The repertoire includes works by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Count Basie, Dafnis Prieto, and Iván Lins.

Backed by Carnegie Hall’s century-long legacy as a pillar of jazz history, NYO Jazz brings a fresh, youthful energy to the genre, embodying its future while paying homage to its storied past.
