Hundreds gather to enjoy the 2025 Mango Fair
Peravia, DR.- Hundreds gathered in Baní’s Central Park, Peravia province, for the second day of the 2025 Mango Fair, a vibrant annual event celebrating the Dominican Republic’s thriving mango industry. Among the notable attendees was former President Hipólito Mejía, alongside producers, business leaders, and agricultural officials.
This year’s edition is dedicated to Agriculture Minister Limber Cruz, who highlighted the sector’s remarkable growth. “Fifteen years ago, mango exports were valued at just US$4 to US$6 million. By the end of 2025, we project US$54 million—an extraordinary leap,” Cruz stated. He also noted an 18% increase in production last year, with a further 10–12% growth expected this season.
The Agricultural Bank has supported this boom by providing over 600 million pesos in financing over the past four years, reinforcing Baní’s title as the mango capital of the country. The fair continues through Sunday, featuring mango tastings, educational talks, product exhibitions, cultural activities, and live entertainment.
