Operation Jaguar uncovers transnational drug ring
Santo Domingo.- The Public Ministry, in collaboration with the National Police and the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD), launched Operation Jaguar this Tuesday to dismantle a transnational criminal network involved in drug trafficking and organized crime. The large-scale initiative mobilized approximately 35 prosecutors and over 300 security personnel, including 63 DNCD agents, more than 170 police officers, and units from the Ministry of Defense, including the Air Force. International support came from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The operation aimed to gather evidence—particularly electronic devices and documents—to further an investigation into an international drug trafficking ring. Authorities reported the successful seizure of documents, weapons, vehicles, and significant amounts of cash in both pesos and dollars. A total of 10 suspects were arrested during 26 raids conducted in Cotuí, San Francisco de Macorís, and Santiago.
According to the Public Ministry, the criminal network under investigation operates across Mexico and the Dominican Republic and is also linked to money laundering and international contract killers. The seized materials are now being analyzed to deepen the investigation and identify additional members of the organization.
