Edeeste will discharge circuit that will impact more than 12,000 customers in various sectors of SDE
Santo Domingo.— The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) announced this Friday that it is in the execution phase of a discharge project for Circuit EBRI05, which will positively impact more than 12,000 customers in various sectors of the Santo Domingo Este municipality.
To continue improving the electric service in its concession area, Edeeste will proceed to discharge 9,503 MVA from the EBRI05 Circuit, which will be loaded to the construction of the trunk of the new EBRI12 Circuit, also granting the opportunity to attract 14,086 users and, in turn, directly impact the lives of 6,612 families.
Edeeste indicated that the recent interruptions to the electricity distribution service have been due to work aimed at improving this circuit.
Along the same lines, Edeeste clarified that the recent fluctuations in nighttime electricity service are related to high energy demand. This situation has been the main driver for the intervention in Circuit EBRI05.
The distributor pointed out that the EBRI05 Circuit currently has a demand load greater than 16,377 MVA, that is, 130% capacity, so with the planned discharge it would remain at a total of approximately 6,632 MVA (52%), thus meaning an improvement in operational efficiency, a reduction in technical losses and an extension of the useful life of the electrical assets.
Edeeste announced that the sectors impacted by this project will be San Isidro Labrador, Nueva Jerusalén Urbanization, Aguas Locas, Luz María, Los Frailes I and II, Nuevo Renacer (Racetrack), Prados del Este, Las Orquídeas I and II, Ciudad del Este, San Bartolo de los Frailes, among other surrounding areas.
With this unloading project, the Edeeste company expects annual savings that, in terms of technical losses, represent a saving of RD$3,784,112.64 annually as a result of the division of the EBRI05 Circuit.
Maintenance
The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company reiterated that since last May, it has intensified its electrical grid maintenance and preventive pruning operations as part of its preparedness plan for the impact of the 2025 hurricane season, which was previously forecast to be very active for the Caribbean region, as well as the intense heat that occurs each summer. The work includes grid inspections, replacement of deteriorated structures, line reinforcement, and technical pruning of trees near distribution networks.
Edeeste regrets any inconvenience that the recent outages may be causing to the public and reiterates that each action is based on a preventive and strategic approach aimed at protecting the electrical infrastructure and ensuring service continuity during high-impact atmospheric events.
