Dominican diaspora reaches 2.8 million

The Dominican diaspora now totals 2,874,124 people, according to the latest update of the Sociodemographic Registry of Dominicans Abroad, released at the end of 2024. Of this total, 2,398,009 reside in the United States and 201,162 in Spain, the two countries with the highest concentration of Dominicans.
Women make up 53.5% of the diaspora, while men account for 46.5%. The registry includes data from 119 regions around the world, adding Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar for the first time. The Americas host 89.8% of Dominicans abroad, followed by Europe with 10%.
The top ten countries where Dominicans live are the U.S., Spain, Italy, Chile, Canada, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Mexico, Panama, and France. In the U.S., most reside in New York (848,560), New Jersey (380,143), and Florida (312,604); in Spain, the largest populations are in Madrid (68,448) and Barcelona (40,353).
