Santo Domingo.- El Pico Duarte, a new Dominican documentary produced by Monte Sereno Films and supported by Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN), marks the first film in over 40 years to focus on Pico Duarte, the Caribbean’s tallest mountain. As part of the Orgullo de Mi Tierra project, the documentary explores the mountain’s unique environment, local communities, and the transformative experiences of hikers who climb its trails. Co-directed by Mariana Rubio Pittaluga and Arturo Dickson, the film follows several characters and emphasizes the importance of preserving this ecological treasure.
Premiered at the IV Fine Arts Festival “Made in the Dominican Republic,” the film is now screening in theaters across the country. The documentary combines breathtaking footage, expert interviews, and historical insights to educate viewers on the significance of Pico Duarte in biodiversity conservation, water resource protection, and national identity.
Shot over six expeditions through four main access routes, El Pico Duarte includes appearances by well-known hikers and environmental advocates.
