U.S. Southern Command reaffirms interest in collaborating on security

The head of the U.S. Southern Command, Admiral Alvin Holsey, visited the Department of Defense’s Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cybersecurity, and Intelligence (C5i) Center and reaffirmed his country’s desire to collaborate to strengthen regional security.
During a tour of the agency’s facilities, along with the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, and officials from the country’s Command and Defense, the four-star admiral and naval aviator of the U.S. Navy observed the monitoring of the border with Haiti, as well as coordination, intelligence sharing, and security operations at C5i.
The Command Center is accredited to provide cybersecurity and cyberdefense training to members of the Armed Forces.

Holsey was awarded the Order of Naval Merit of the Dominican Republic, a distinction presented by Lieutenant General Fernández Onofre.
The U.S. soldier received the award on behalf of Southcom for his contributions to the Dominican Republic’s Armed Forces.
Holsey is a computer science professional and former commissioner of the Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (NROTC) program at Morehouse College.
